Troy began his career in Avondale, Colorado teaching fourth grade for three years. He then taught 5 years in Rocky Ford, Colorado at Rocky Ford High School. Troy then moved to Greeley, Colorado in 2010 and is currently teaching middle school reading.
In the school year 2011-2012, Troy was part of the pilot program of an all boys reading class for University Middle School. This single-sex gender class was the stepping stone to increasing achievement among middle school boys and closing the educational gap between boys and girls.

Troy became a trainer to help other educators become knowledgeable and aware of how each educator can meet the needs of boys and girls more effectively through the use of the Gurian Institute’s strategies. Troy believes that educators must be adaptable to change and hopes to educate educators on the use of these strategies to make all students successful.
