CJ Kruska

Mr. CJ Kruska is a teacher and mentor at Crespi Carmelite High School, a Gurian Institute Center For Educational Excellence. With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Sonoma State University and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount University, Mr. Kruska has spent over 20 years teaching both in the classroom and on the field. As a head football coach, he enjoyed training and motivating his players to become the best football players they could be, and to become even better young men. As a teacher, he has taught every grade from kindergarten to high school seniors in several subjects including Social Studies, Mathematics, Theology, Physical Education, and Student Government. About 10 years ago, Mr. Kruska stepped out of the classroom and spent several years as an elementary school principal.

After attending a Gurian Institute presentation, Mr. Kruska was inspired to read Dr. Gurian’s book Boys And Girls Learn Differently! and began to have some clarity and a better understanding of how to better interact with his students, teachers/coaches, and parents. Mr. Kruska has since taken what he learned from Dr. Gurian’s research and now uses it in his classroom at Crespi Carmelite High School, an all-male Catholic school in Los Angeles, California. The Crespi boys are benefiting greatly, both academically and socially, from a Gurian approach to learning.

As a Gurian Trainer at Crespi Carmelite High School, Mr. Kruska enjoys sharing his learning experiences (his successes along with some challenging moments) with others that are looking to improve their ability to communicate with the boys and girls in their lives as parents, educators, and coaches.

Mr. Kruska grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and now lives in the San Fernando Valley with his wife Katy and two children, Emily and Joey.
