Diane Roberts

Diane Roberts began her journey in education 25 years ago as a teacher in an alternative school in Chicago, Illinois, where she discovered that student genius does not always align with traditional instructional methods.

Ms. Roberts served as a classroom teacher for 17 years prior to venturing into school administration. She taught computer applications, accounting, business management, entrepreneurship, and writing at the 9-12th grade and undergraduate levels in Illinois and Maryland. After leaving the classroom, she has served as an instructional coach, vice principal and now school principal.

Ms. Roberts has a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Chicago State University and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from McDaniel College in Maryland. She is certified in Business Education, English and Administration and Supervision. She is trained in restorative practices, AVID, positive behavior intervention and supports, youth mental health first aid, and serves a member of the Charles County Public Schools Equity Task Force, Superintendent’s Task Force on the African American Employee Experience, and group facilitator and pilot school leader for the Task Force on Achieving Academic Equity and Excellence for Black Boys for the Maryland State Department of Education.

Mrs. Diane Roberts was named principal at Westlake High School in 2018. As principal, Ms. Roberts has partnered with the school community to provide valuable leadership and educational opportunities to the next generation of global leaders.
