Dr. Adonica A. Jones-Parks is a passionate educator, an advocate for youth, and is committed to social justice and ensuring that education is a true equalizer for all students. She brings over two decades of expertise and knowledge, including sixteen years of experience in K-12 public education as an English teacher for seven years and nine years in administration as an assistant principal and principal. She has served in magnet, career tech, and high-needs settings and has four years of experience in a non-public charter school setting. Dr. Jones-Parks has also taught in higher education as a writing instructor at a two-year college and an adjunct professor for teacher preparation at a major university.
Dr. Jones-Parks is currently serving as Director of Curriculum at Dohn Community High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Previously, she was a high school English teacher and department chair at a residential treatment facility for adolescent males in crisis in Cincinnati. She assists faculty in going from zero students graduating from high school to multiple or all graduates by incorporating pedagogy that focuses on how males and females learn, maintaining small class sizes with extended time for classroom instruction, and providing multiple supports for the students.
Dr. Jones-Parks holds professional licenses in the following areas: 7-12 English/Language Arts, K-12 Reading Endorsement, 7-12 Principal, and Superintendent.
She earned a Doctor of Education from Miami University (OH), a Master of Education from Xavier University (OH), and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Xavier University (OH). Her research and education interests include gender-based pedagogy, culturally responsive teaching practices, and the mentorship and coaching of teachers and school leaders.
