Maryland
Husband. Father. Educator. I am a native of Charleston, SC and a former product of Charleston County School District, and was blessed to have the experience of moving around the country as the child of an Army soldier. I received my bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from South Carolina State University and began my educational career as an Art teacher in North Carolina, where I taught in the elementary and middle school settings.
I received my master’s degree in Administration and Supervision and doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. As an elementary school principal for the past ten years in South Carolina and Maryland, I have trained and developed teachers and leaders and have piloted state and district-level programs to improve student outcomes and increase educator capacity.
I believe strongly in community and relationships, art integration, and inclusive education, which is why I chose to transition to school administration. I believe the aspect of designing instruction to meet students where they are, and individualizing student supports is non-negotiable. Exposure to the Gurian Institute training and brain science reinforces that philosophy and I look forward to helping expand the knowledge and awareness to others through this work.
