Man’s greatness consists in his ability to do and the proper application of his powers to things needed to be done. – Frederick Douglas

Marion Hill has been an administrator in the early childhood education field for 19 years. A youth football coach, mentor and advocate to minority boys, he is Co-Founder of M.A.N. C.A.V.E (Men All Need to be Caring Actively-Engaged, and Encouraged), a fatherhood program designed to encourage fathers/male role models to be actively engaged in their child’s growth and development through training, monthly meetings and father-child activities. Marion works with and through the Greater Phoenix Urban League to expand social service programming and partnerships to support minority boys and fathers.

Marion discovered the Gurian Institute at an early childhood education conference where Michael Gurian was the keynote speaker. Michael’s keynote had an immediate impact on Marion and within a year, M.A.N C.A.V.E sponsored and held its first “Helping Boys Thrive Summit.”

Marion became a Certified Trainer for the Gurian Institute in 2018 and has worked with the Greater Phoenix Urban League to implement a GI pilot program in response to the National Urban League’s Equity & Excellence Project. That pilot included bringing the Gurian model classroom to Head Start and informing the community about the differences between the way boys and girls learn.

Marion works tirelessly to spread the word, providing training in several school districts and facilitating webinars with educators, parents, state administrators, social service agencies and faith-based organizations. He has also incorporated the Gurian Institute’s brain-based research and training into M.A.N.C.A.V.E.

Marion brings a powerful perspective to this work, working to promote the important roles of mothers and fathers both, including promotion of father- and male-engagement, and in doing so, improve the lives of children and families.
