Phyllis Aro-Trejo

Phoenix

I have 36 years of experience in social work. My experience includes working in the areas of: substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, housing, crisis intervention and currently early education. I have been working for the City of Phoenix 31 years (12 years in early childhood). I am a Casework Supervisor for the City of Phoenix Birth to Five Program. My passion is School Readiness, encouraging and empowering parents to be their “child’s first teacher.” After being introduced to Doctor Gurian and the Gurian Institute I have developed an understanding of brain development and its difference between boys and girls. I believe this information will provide parents with a “tool in their tool belt” when parenting/supporting their child, making that “home – school connection.” I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
