Dr. DeNiro is a native Coloradoan and currently serves as the Vice President of Pueblo City Schools Board of Education in Pueblo, Colorado. She received her PhD in 1998, from the University of Denver, MA 1983, University of Northern Colorado, BA 1975, University of Southern Colorado. She holds Colorado Administrative, Superintendent and teaching certificates as well as a Colorado Practical Nurse License. She served in central administration, school administration, teaching and staff positions. Past experience also includes hospital administrative/clinic staff positions in sportsmedicine.
Her honors include selection as the 2003-2004, Colorado Middle School Principal of the Year from the National Association Secondary School Principals, YWCA Ann Tausig Women of the Year Award, 2005, Primo Award of Excellence-Middle School Educator of the Year, 2007-2008 Primo Award-Service to the Community, Outstanding Women Award 2012, Pueblo Library District. Also a member of the United States Olympic Committee Sportsfestival, 1978, 1979 and United States Olympic Committee World Hemisphere Tournament, Taipei, Twain, 1981, serving as a certified athletic trainer of sportsmedicine.
Dr. DeNiro is a past Colorado Association of Secondary Principals (CASSP), Board of Directors, Region 6, National Association Secondary School Principals, Urban Schools Committee Region 5, and Pueblo Latino Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors
