We are proud to announce that our Summer Training Institute is set for June 25-26, 2022! It will be Virtual over the weekend so that people from around the world can join various sessions via Zoom as they are happening. You can register as an individual on the website or bring groups of five or more at a discount. For group registration, contact gail@gurianinstitute.com.
The whole SI will also be available on a private registrant-only website for two weeks beginning on June 25 – July 10. You won’t need to miss any part of the more than 20 presentations. The two week viewing window also allows your schools and teams to utilize the training on weekdays. On Monday morning we will certify new trainers via an additional four hour Zoom training session.
The content and training offered by GI Summer Training Institute is powerful for K – 12 schools and staff, for teachers and coaches, for counselors and therapists working with any age group including adults, for organizations and leaders nationally and in local communities, and for policy makers, and mentors and parents. Every year we have people from all over the U.S. and North America and from around the world. This is a professional development event that can also provide networking and mutual support for you wherever you are working with children.
For the second year in a row now, the Summer Training Institute also includes an Early Childhood Track set up specifically for early childhood educators, caseworkers, coaches, caregivers, and those interested in seeing how the Gurian work translates into the early years. This track is inspired and fulfilled through the Early Childhood Pilots in Phoenix, AZ. In these pilots, the Gurian Institute is working with Head Start, Greater Phoenix Urban League, Booker T. Washington Schools, and the City of Phoenix at school sites in the Cartwright School District, Arizona State University Preparatory Academy, Byron Barry school, and Booker T. Washington Childhood Centers. These organizations are co-sponsors with GI of this year’s Summer Training Institute.
About the GI work in early childhood environments, Marion Hill, Program Director of Head Start, City of Phoenix, and one of our Sunday Keynoters, has said, “We have found Gurian’s work to be the missing piece in early childhood education as others have found it to be so in K – 12. The Pilots in Phoenix have been very successful, and we are pleased to be a part of this Early Childhood Track at the Summer Institute.” Of the 12 afternoon workshops, 4 specifically target early childhood. And even if you do not work in the ECE arena, you might still find them fascinating and helpful, especially since, if you register for the hybrid/zoom option, you will have two weeks to watch everything.

What Other Participants Have Said
“Every year I come back. This is the best conference anywhere for understanding the brains of males and females, and how that understanding can positively change classrooms and communities.”
“Michael’s section on the science was huge in my effort to make sure as principal that our school is an inclusive community for LGBTQ+ students without leaving girls, boys, and their parents out of the positive school experience.”
“Dr. Gurian and the GI team take a brain-based approach to trauma-informed education. They see trauma through ACE’s, Covid, the brain, and the sex/gender lens. This combination is very powerful. Thank you!”
“The keynotes and workshops on helping children of color were powerful in their own right, and they worked together with the understanding of male/female. Very helpful and needed, especially in our present time.”
“This is some of the most practical training I can find anywhere. To me it operates at three levels–the science itself, including the brain scans; the practical strategies for pre-k through 12 schools; and very important to me, the resonance with common sense.”
“The applications of this work in early childhood are stunning. I was especially moved by what is happening with our boys in preschool. No one is at fault, but we must face a systemic issue.”
