On October 10, I spoke at the Dawson School in Boulder, Colorado, and a reporter was kind enough to write a story about the lecture and professional development. This week’s blog post features her article, a cogent grass roots example of brain-based thinking that is being supported in a community.
We live in a time when, as we’ve noted before in this blog, a part of our culture wants to toss out male/female as if these elements of human nature are either untrue or anathema. These ideological voices believe that by avoiding male/female, we will best protect vulnerable populations, including LGBTQ. I’ve noted before in this blog: it is actually when a culture understands all brains–male, female, lesbian/gay/bisexual, and transgender–that we best advocate for everyone. To try to create school, home, counseling, and other social systems without considering who we are from a brain-based viewpoint is to leave countless millions of human beings, no matter their sex or gender, behind.
Many thanks to reporter Dani Hammett for enlivening this topic. We hope you enjoy her article here: http://www.lhvc.com/news/boys-and-girls-learn-differently/article_518bcf3e-d28a-11e8-b249-2fafdb431ea7.html
