Our Winter Training Institute is set for January 24-26, 2020 at The Lovett School, in Atlanta, Georgia. Early Bird registration ends November 30! The school is a comfortable and beautiful facility for learning, networking, and changing paradigms. Its rooms and grounds are perfect for practicing new teaching and counseling strategies and renewing our shared belief in the power of education.

Upon completing the training, you will receive a Certificate for 14 hours of professional development targeted to educators, counselors, administrators, parents, and mentors.
Our dual focus this year is both academic and social-emotional success, with 2 dynamic keynote speakers, Dr. Michael Gurian and renowned educator Troy Kemp, 12 strategies-oriented workshop options, and 2 working lunches for those interested in group discussions of crucial contemporary issues in the development of boys and girls. By using the gender lens, the Gurian Institute helps you to delve deeply into theory and strategies that have been proven effective in hundreds of schools and communities over the last 20 years.
Our Winter Institute Learning and Training Objectives should fit well with your professional development needs and funding:
· Describe how the field of neuroscience is altering what you know about the psychology and education of children and adolescents.
· Discuss specific needs and issues of boys and girls from birth to adulthood, including analysis of the gender spectrum.
· Assess how institutionalized educational, counseling, and parenting models do or do not fill the specific developmental needs of girls and boys.
· Identify new logic models and strategies for motivation, learning, and behavioral intervention.
· Summarize key stressors and social-emotional factors that differ between girls and boys across the spectrum.
· Demonstrate new strategies for learning, counseling, and assessment, including strategies for working with highly sensitive girls and boys.
· Implement new strategies and practical tools beyond the Summer Institute, in your own curricular areas and environments.
Gurian Institute Success Data
Data and evidence from the last twenty years shows specific areas of quantitative and qualitative success at schools that implement our GI brain-based instruction (https://gurianinstitute.com/success/). The Minds of Boys and Girls strategies and programs generally result in:
· Improved teacher effectiveness
· Achievement gaps closing, especially in literacy, math, and science
· Gender gaps closing across the curriculum
· Significant decrease in discipline referrals
· Significantly improved student behavior – as teachers deploy the GI strategies, students change the way they operate in the classroom.
Certifying an In-House Trainer for Your School
We hope you will consider bringing a team and certifying one or more of your team as Gurian Certified Trainers. This Trainer Certification will allow for ongoing professional development and support to teachers, counselors, and parents at your school or in your organization. More about our Certified Trainers is here: https://gurianinstitute.com/trainers/. Trainers can be certified by attending the Winter Institute and staying for an additional morning (Monday, January 24). On the Trainer webpage, you’ll also see an online opportunity to certify, if that’s more convenient.
If our team can answer questions you might have about the Winter Institute or about ongoing support and professional development for your staff or community, please email our Conference Coordinator, Eva Dwight at eva@gurianinsitute.com.
