Early bird registration is open for our January 2020 Winter Training Institute! We will all be together at Lovett Middle School, a Gurian Model School, in Atlanta, Georgia for learning, networking and lots of fun, too.
A fully tech-modern facility, Lovett also has beautiful grounds on which to relax and process, and it is only about a half hour away from the Atlanta airport. Our deep thanks to Principal Debbie Franks and so many others at Lovett for inviting us into their “home.”
Our topics this year focus on the minds of boys and girls seen through current areas of concern in every school in every part of the world. Some of these are:
*Protecting the emotional lives of our children;
*Trauma-informed teaching and counseling;
*Improving STEM and Literacy success;
*Digital life, screen time, social media, and video game use;
*Changes in child mental health trends, including depression and anxiety increases;
*Best practices for teaching boys and girls across the curriculum;
*Best practices for managing classrooms and student behavior;
*Best practices for coed and single sex schools and classrooms;
*Social-emotional learning for the whole child, and much more.
Our presenters work with you to see the biggest issues of the day through a gender lens, and our keynotes and breakouts are filled with practical strategies and tools you can use the next day. Both research-based science and practical tools are the hallmark of GI professional development throughout the school year, and drive our passion at our Winter Training Institute.
This event is intended for anyone working with boys and girls and women and men. Specifically, the target audience is: educators, administrators, counselors, social workers, early childhood specialists, coed and single sex teachers/teams, parents, mentors, coaches, government agency professionals, faith community members, and policy makers.
For those of you who wish to become Gurian Certified Trainers, there is an extra session on Monday morning. This morning’s session–and this 2020 Atlanta event– will be the first Winter Training Institute following our announcement of the “Gurian Trainer in Every School Initiative.” This means, though there are other ways to get certified, this weekend is also perfect for anyone wishing to become certified on site among a group of like-minded professionals.
If you complete the Winter Training, you’ll receive a Certificate for 14 hours of Professional Development. Certifying trainers who come to the extra session will receive 17 hours.
As you can see from our website, https://gurianinstitute.com/events/gurian-winter-institute-2020/, our schedule is set, though there could be a few minor changes before January. Our keynotes and breakouts are presented by Dr. Michael Gurian, Founder of the Gurian Institute, Mr. Troy Kemp, the Executive Director of the National Center for the Development of Boys, and our nationally recognized GI staff and Trainers.
There will be a special emphasis this year not only on academic education and success but also the social-emotional lives of our students and children. With our children under so much stress and pressure in the digital age, GI is committed to bringing the best leading-edge tools to you and your communities.
For those of you utilizing grant funds, the training objectives are presented on our website. You will also find a great deal of other information to use in your funding.
Group discounts are available. Contact gail@gurianinstitute.com to discuss a group discount.
