Do you want to embed GI work into your school, system, or community? We have a new, easy-to-use Trainer and Membership program that allows you to do just that.
Based on success data acquired over a multi-decade period (www.gurianinstitute.com/success) GI began certifying trainers in the 1990s, with hundreds of people like you certifying over the decades. Now we are adding a Membership service to the Trainer program, one that we hope will allow anyone to use and embed our work in every possible community and school.
Are you an educator, administrator, preschool teacher, nonprofit staff member, clergy or youth services worker, medical or psychological professional, counselor, volunteer, coach, parent? You and others like you can now embed GI into your school, district, organization, and locality. If you are in a small school, for instance, one Trainer might be able to embed GI success; for larger schools or whole school districts, a cohort of Trainers can embed the work throughout the system and create systemic change.
During the membership year (and renewable every year) the Gurian Institute and I will support Certified Trainers by providing the initial Train-the-Trainers via Zoom in early 2023, then nine two-hour trainings over 9 months,as well as materials and group and one on one coaching during the year.
Specifically, GI Trainers in this Membership Program will receive:
- Twelve hours of initial Train-the-Trainers via Zoom on these Mondays at 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Pacific time:
–January 30, training with Dr. Michael Gurian, on Protecting the Minds of Boys and Girls, and Gender-Specific, Trauma-Informed Resilience-Development in Children.
–February 6, training with Eva Dwight, M.Ed., GI Program Director, on Boys and Girls Learn Differently and Strategies for Educating Boys and Girls.
–February 13, training with Dr. Glynetta Fletcher, Cultural Literacy, Equity, and Helping Boys and Girls of Color.
–February 27, training with Eva Dwight, M.Ed., final Trainer Certification Session with Modeling and Initial Materials.
If you or one of your Trainers is not available at the designated training time, videos will be available so that no one misses anything.
2. Upon completion of the four training sessions, Trainers will receive protected access to the Certified Trainer portal in which approximately 100 materials are already loaded, organized, and curated for immediate use.
3. The Trainers will then receive new materials that I will personally curate, including new PPT slides, video clips, podcasts, handouts, articles and blogs, strategies tools, and more. These will help you and the Trainers to be inspired, to learn new skills, to improve teaching and coaching, and to embed GI Training, administrative work, and parent coaching into an institution and community.
4. During the year, there will be nine (9) additional professional development sessions of two (2) hours via Zoom, taught by GI Master Trainers. Best dates will be decided by surveying the new Trainers and connecting schedules with the instructor’s schedules.
5. Again, very importantly, if a Trainer misses any session during the year, the session will be recorded so that no Trainer needs to miss any PD offering.
6. Three (3) group coaching sessions and one (1) one-on-one coaching session during the year with me, Dr. Fletcher, or Ms. Dwight as you choose.
7. Upon-Request materials: an individual Trainer can request customized video clips, PPT slides, and other tools that target a specific question or concern the Trainer has. The GI team and I will work to fulfill each specific request, if possible.
Cost for the new Trainer and Membership program is just $3,000.00 for the whole year. The 13 trainings themselves would normally cost more in any organization, but we want to pilot this new program in a way that is cost effective for you and your teams. At the end of the year, the Membership is renewable if the Trainer wishes, for $1,000 per year; if you change schools or environments, your membership continues.
