Gary Plep, LCSW and Mark Yoslow, Ph.D. are therapists in Northern California and also very good friends. And I have known Gary and his wife, Sue, since the early 1990s. They were the first people who said, “Mike, you need a website.” Because of them, www.gurianinstitute.com became a reality almost three decades ago.
Gary and Mark have published a fascinating book, Walking the Hill. I admit I am biased in liking it as I wrote the Foreword! I hope you’ll enjoy Gary’s words about the book in today’s blog post and give their beautiful book a read in this new year. — Michael Gurian
Feeling alone with no sense of purpose? Not sure where you belong? Challenged by taking the next step into the life you want?
This is our story of finding direction in a commitment to a healing ritual: a strenuous trail climb. What was intended to be a simple sharing exercise, and a time to bond between two men, became a form of meditation, deep revelation, and healing. The path was painted with the life reflections of two men who speak their personal truth.
What inspired us will empower you with the courage to speak your own truth without shame and claim your place and purpose in life. Many of us carry trauma, Veteran or civilian. Walking The Hill: The Art of Accidental Transformation is an example of how Nature can nurture healing. Join with us on our walk of self-reflection and connection. Walking The Hill is a no nonsense path toward how to man up and discover who you are and answer the ancient question of all seekers of wisdom, “Who am I?”
This is an invitation and challenge to join us for a walk of a lifetime. As transformation occurs over time you will have an inner knowing of who you are and welcome yourself home as I have. You will no longer be alone as it is not just about you. You will be a member of the Quest seeking what you must bring back to your-self, your family and community to improve the lives you touch. It is not easy, and there is pain. We suffer to be free, and freedom transforms suffering to meaning.
Are you willing to be vulnerable? Join us on an organic, personal, spiritual, and transformative journey. Walking the Hill: The Art of Accidental Transformation is a guided meditative unfolding of man’s true nature unto himself. It will challenge and inspire you. You can get the book at www.walkingthehill.com and wherever books are sold.
