Helen Webster was born and raised in Laurel, Maryland. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Reading Education from University of Maryland, College Park. An educator for 40 years, she has worked for Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland for over 35 years of her career. She has been an elementary classroom teacher, a middle school reading teacher, and, for 20 years, a Staff Development Teacher. As the Staff Development Teacher, Helen has supported teachers through coaching, training, data analysis, providing resources, and planning support. Helen has also helped to develop and implement a system-wide training for mentor teachers. A passionate proponent of elevating student voice as part of the school improvement process, Helen has been a two-time presenter on this topic at the National Youth-At-Risk Conference in Georgia. She also co-authored an article for Youth Today on this topic.
