We are so proud of our speakers and participants in our Winter Institute. Thank you all! Through crazy times and after a crazy year, the Zoom event went smoothly and the more than 200 participants gained knowledge and strategies with which to help their students and children press forward in 2021.
Our speakers covered the minds of boys and girls, leading edge science on trauma-response, working with children of color, a focus on boys of color, working with learning challenged students, how to employ digital solutions especially in under resourced communities, invigorating healthy fatherhood, classroom discipline in a standards driven environment, strategies for teaching boys and girls, the digital girl, single sex education…and much more.
Without your support, these Training Institutes would not happen. Please check out https://gurianinstitute.com/events/gurian-winter-institute-2021/ to see the full line up and comments others have made about our Training Institutes. Stay tuned to learn more about our Summer Institute in June, and please write us at gail@gurianinstitute.com with queries or questions about bringing the Gurian Institute (even if via online modalities) to your schools and communities.
Next week we will begin a blog series on the Effects of Social Media Trauma on the teen and adult brain.
Feedback from Participants About Our Winter Institute 2021 Speakers
“Eye Opening! The material on how Mom & Dad nurture, how boys & girls learn differently, and aggression and empathy nurturance all blew my mind.”
“The Gurian Institute information is immediately applicable in my classroom. I love these conferences because of that most important thing.”
“Thank you all for this wonderful information and all of the strategies.”
“So inspiring! I had numerous takeaway and aha moments. I am re-energized to go back into my classroom with systemic change in mind”
“The information on how trauma affects our students was so helpful. I am going to make some needed changes in my classroom and in our school culture.”
“This science-based perspective is truly engaging. This should be taught to every college students, especially as we become teachers in our schools of education.”
“Learning about the ways males nurture each other–and how it builds resilience for all children–really touched my heart as a counselor and teacher. Our schools lose so many boys because we don’t value the way they actually relate. Thank you for helping us to change the way we teach.”
“The information on the digital brains of girls and boys was so useful! I now know how to better protect my daughters and I will definitely be providing this in parent education in our district.”
“This was great for me as a parent, too. I understand my own children so much better!”
“I cannot wait to share my reflections and thoughts next week with my peers and superiors. Thank you again, for a fantastic roundup of excellent educational workshops!”
“You did an amazing job on organization of the event and the content. I am filled with gratitude for the work you are doing. This science is so important. We need to spread the word more and more. The solution-orientation of the Gurian Institute is so compelling.”
“The speakers helped me in both of my jobs, as I teach both coed and single sex classes. Thank you!”
“I am a new teacher. The strategies and tips were so helpful, and you confirmed intuitions I am having about my students, especially about what is going on with girls in their relational worlds and boys and literacy learning.”
“Gurian Institute professional development continues to be among the best I go to every year, and I have been a teacher for 28 years!”
