Here are two keynotes and more about the Summit and Initiative.
What Are Boys Thinking? A Deep Dive into the Minds of Boys, with Dr. Michael Gurian
A brain-science deep dive into how boys think, react, and view life, with important insights regarding their development as boys and men. Join Michael to learn implement-now, brain-based, research-backed strategies for helping boys thrive and succeed in our post-covid family, classroom, and world. Michael will show brain scans that reveal how uniquely boys develop throughout the lifespan. As he explores the minds of boys with you, prepare to feel supported as a person who cares for boys and perhaps even astounded by the possibilities in each boy’s life-journey.
Fathers and Essential Men: Ideas and Programs that Bring Men into Boys’ Lives, with Marion Hill
An inspiring and practical look at what boys need from men and how to build programs and systems to give boys these fathers and essential men in their lives. This keynote includes insights and strategies for helping boys in general succeed in classroom and communities, including a focus on helping boys of color thrive. Marion will also share best practices tested and used in Pilots in the Phoenix area and successes from his co-founded M.A.N.C.A.V.E. Fatherhood support program in Phoenix and beyond.
Helping Boys Thrive and the Boys Initiative
The Gurian Institute began our Helping Boys Thrive® initiative ten years ago as a way to both help raise community awareness about boys’ issues and bring evidence-based solutions to cities and regions. As some events have gone online these last few years, people from around the country and around the world can learn and inspire one another to make systemic change on behalf of boys. Participants in the past ten years of Helping Boys Thrive Summits® have agreed that what we do for boys will also help girls and adults.
